In general i rate Chiltern Trains very well, they are late yes, in 14 months of commuting generally on time.

They are limited by the very tight track. Trains are slow, better if they could be faster.

In total it costs me £460 a month.

£379 odd for the train with tube (unlimted travel that month), £80 for car parking for the month.

Compared to Southwest trains, where its a shorter distance by 30 odd miles, chiltern is a LOT faster. First Great Western suck, as trains go they aint bad, but no train in the UK will be the car.
In all the years I've used the Slug, I've never known it to arrived at published time.  OK, its rarely more than 5-10 mins late.

I care not if its Network Rail's fault or Chiltern's, those thieving idiots at Chiltern take my cash, I expect them to supply what they promise.

And rather than waste money on gay laptop points, I'd rather see a fare reduction.  And lose the tables so they can get more seats in - if city workers want to do extra work, they should bloody well stay in the office, rather than annoy everyone else by taking up lots of space and talking loudly on phone. Bloody retards.

Was running late, so got to the train just seconds before it left, got a seat at a table of 4.

Train had the new laptop friendly tables fitted with pull out thingys, and power points, i had to use the lappy too.

Train was packed, some were standing. Air-con was very weak, I was hot and sweaty all the way back. Was sqaushed in by a rather large bloke next to me, some 3 kids or so futher down the carriage screaming their heads off  >:(

Needed to get home quick problems, having in Singapore and i am on call  >:(, had the worse driver... usually train comes quick into the station, but she braked miles away, and we slooooly came in. I know for a fact no trains were ahead, just her crap skills with the brake.

Got into my car...

Ahh Space :)

Ahh my personal choice of music. :)

Ahh yes, lets set the climate to 20, ahh yes, thats nice and cool. :)

Humm driving along, the ride is smoother than the train too!

All from a car worth just 1k!

What do you mean "HER"!! :o :o :o

Typical; if any form of transport isn't running correctly then it must be a woman driving! ::) ::) ::)  Bloody cheek! :D ;)

......and how do you know there was not a train ahead of yours? ::) ::)
Unless you have wonderful vision into the sections in front of you, then you would not possibly know unless you are at the front of the train and able to read the multi-aspect signals or temporary speed limit indicators.  I suspect a previous train, probably ahead in the section after the one in front of you was running slow for a reason, or there was work on the line, and was holding yours in check as per the railway Rule Book, Rules 43,77 & 78 81 of 1950 (amended 1st October 1961)!!!! 8-) 8-) 8-)   Well it is the newest I own!! ;D ;D ;D ;)

Don't worry though eventually a forward thinking, railway historian, steam preservationist, and minded political activist such as me will give this country a railway to be proud of again, with interconnecting services that all work successfully and on time!!! :D :D :D ;)

I must say though that I actually found Chiltern Railways far better than many others when I used to commute regularly from Banbury to Marlebone and back every day for 18 months! :y :y   They were far better certainly than Connex in the South East at the time! ;D ;)

Well... been doing this now for 14/15 months, and you do notice the different styles in driving.

There are several women drivers who, and not trying to take the mick or anything are a lot softer on the brakes. Its like cars, the blokes tend to drive more aggresivly.

I KNOW there was no one ahead cause i got 6:30 express, first stop is mine, and there was nothing ahead... green signal at the station when i got off ;)

And it was almost full speed all the way, she braked before a bridge into the station, most brake well after... a smoother run yes, but not quicker!  :D

Well Tunnie, I must agree with you 100% on that one! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :y
