So, how do you tell dog poo from human ? They can be very similar in size.

Taste it. 

You will need to put a steaming pile side by side with one recently evacuated from your whippet, for definitive proof.

The smell of human shit is far far worse than dog shit!   

It's rare that we encounter human shit, as we usually dump it in water which stops most of the stench. 

But given Rog's location I'd imagine that if it is human, it will be extremely pungent with heady tones of donor kebab.

The smell of human shit is far far worse than dog shit!   

It's rare that we encounter human shit, as we usually dump it in water which stops most of the stench.

I had a similer problem in that each morning I found a large turd on the gravel in front of my house. I was convinced that my neighbours dog was doing it but rather than just complain I decided to get some footage or a photo before I "discussed " it with him.
I bought a Sri Cam sp007 ip camera ( google it ) set it up and within 10 minutes witnessed our large snow leopard cat squat and crap..........Ooops.
Anyway, the camera is great , easy to configure and in daylight gives a very good image with multiple choice recording and transmission of activity to phone or i pad. Night vision is poor but I fitted an additional IR lamp which gives floodlight performance.
Film the animal resposible and go from there.......
Good luck 'cause it's an awful thing to endure . And yes we still have the cat.
