3D - Gameing - PC V Console
« on: 30 May 2021, 18:52:42 »

I dont play too many games, but if I do I have allways preferred my PC  :y

Plus over the years I have aquired a Playsation One & PS4, I also have an XBox  :y

So planning into the future with regards to all the 3D Virtual Reality kit out there (I am clueless) Where do I start.

PS5 or XBox equivelent.

Or PC (DDR5 memory is due soon) but the markerket is volatile regards most of it at the moment. :-\

Is anyone allready into 3D gameing?

Any advice?

Like with cars and other new tech ,if you buy the latest tech then you pay a premium and deal with software glitches ,hardware that gets improved with revision 2 etc etc

Home VR is in it's infancy

dig out the zx81 and play 3D monster maze for a year till hardware prices stabilize and let someone else take the ££ hit  :P

If you want an easy, plug and play life, get a console.

If you want the best performance, frame rate and a lot more expense and agro, get a PC.

I used to PC game, but I've moved to consoles now as the cost and hassle of PC gaming was too great. I'm sure it's not as bad as it was, although the current issues with graphics cards isn't great. I like the idea I can buy a game, it works straight away without finding extra drivers, patches, firmware etc

It all depends what you want to do and who with. My friends are on PlayStation's or PC, at least I can join most of them. Also look at the games you want to play, some are exclusive to one or the other. Personally, my experiences of XBox has been good also, but the userbase tends to be a generation younger.

Just to clarify, by 3D gaming, I presume you mean virtual reality? As most games are 3D.

Yes. you are correct.  Should have given more description.

Standard answer is always:

If you want to play games, get a seXbox or gayStation.  You can absolutely guarantee that games will play well on them, in the way the developer intended.

PC's, by their nature, will always be fighting you, be it driver issues, hardware incompatibilities, or those blended type issues where each component performs to spec, but as a whole doesn't.

Nothing will ever change that.

The only exceptions are games that are PC only.  But they are incredibly few and far between now.

I'm still playing Doom from the early/mid 1990s  ::) Worked out how to play them on modern PCs, not too hard.

I bought an Xbox not so long ago. Games just too damned complicated to learn. I just do not have that amount of time, and I have the attention span of a gnat. I bought The relatively recent Doom for PC, totally failed to get it to work.

Sorry, I just can't be arsed with gaming till it's easy to get going.

The original Doom and Doom II represent the pinnacle of games.

Everything since is probably technically better, but doesn't match the gameplay and atmosphere or the originals.
