I'm curious as to what MB would have done had I taken the car to them for its 'software update' .... would that have high lighted the current re-map?

Yes, as soon as the diagnostic equipment is plugged in it will definitely raise a flag.  The ECU logs the number of times it has been flashed or updated. If your car has a mismatched update count compared to factory records, it raises a flag. I was told that if mine was remapped, not to take it in to an Audi main dealer workshop, as they would automatically plug it in for a software check/update, which could then potentially un-remap my car.  ::)  In Audi’s case, they will also raise a TD1 flag, which goes on the vehicle’s history log and can’t be removed, even if the vehicle is flashed back to factory spec.

Mines been fine for over three years now so I'm sure you'll be fine.  :y  Had it not already been remapped, you may have noticed that it runs a little bit livelier,  but the previous remap may make that less obvious I guess.  :-\
