Fully agree, but I don't want to commit to much to sky either, perhaps some form of pay to view :) that would really show what people want to watch, and it won't  be most of the crap on TV now :y

The thing that annoys me about Sky is the adverts, 18 minutes out of every 60 is adverts, and we are paying to watch them. The F1 is back on the BBC next season and I am really looking forward to that, no bloody poodles and clothes pegs followed by rowing boats interrupting the race, they wouldn't dare do it during the Queens speech or a cup final. There is a good choice of stuff on Sky, and I for one like the episode being shown again on +1, as I usually stumble on stuff halfway through, I have had my moneys worth out of Sky while I have been out of work recently, and the broadband is only £5 a month, so on balance I will keep Sky for now.

I think, unfortunately, its another example of how cr*P this country has become. Remenber the monoplies and mergers Commision, suposed to keep things free and unbiased. Well guess who controls most of the TV these days ?., Thats right, News International, Sky in other words. They run the terrestial transmitters (Freeview), and from what I have heard charge  a pretty penny to the likes of ITV, BBC for channels. Do the math, if they don't make a lot  selling ads, then there isn't that much left to buy good programes. So the quality of TV goes down, but there's nothing you can do, except go to Sky, who can put out any old rubbish, cause you have no choice, its either Cr*p or slightly better and more expensive Cr*p. Blame the usual suspects, its their fault. I suspect we tried to follow the US model of things, enough demand will give some competition. However over here there isn't enough demand to finance seperate sytems so.................  And with a recesion, companies will spend less on TV ads, so..................

It happens. And there's sod all we can do about it.

I love the show, especially the road trips / races. Strangely no e-mails from TG / BBC2 yet, I subscribe to it ( it is free after all ) normally some advance notice and trailers on TV but I haven't seen one yet.
JC certainly speaks his mind not like all the other diluted BBC shows, the last episode against the German competition was as funny as a Morecambe and Wise Christmas special, and where did they get 3 two seater Spitfires? They daren't censor the show too much as it makes the BBC an awful lot of money.

Sorry for being thick, but i thought it was taxpayers the licence fee that paid for the BBC :-/

and this is the sort of thing it pays for.

How do we ge to this situation, how can anyone be worth that sort of money, it's like football. >:( Yes, pay them a lot of money if they are worth it, but not silly money, and all that money to show Match of the Day :o think it is about time the licence fee was removed.......... I pay it to watch quality TV, sadly lacking, not to pay large salaries :-X

It is not for Woss but for his production company, and I think it worked out over all the shows he does not actually that much per show.

Don't ask for figures but it is always pulled out as an anti BBC thingy

Slightly off thread, but your link to Ross's salary story is ironic, Martin, when you read this:

I think he and, and especially that unfunny git Russell Brand, should be prosecuted.  :y

Really looking forward to the return of TG. :y I know JC isn't everyone's cup of tea but he makes the show what it is and is complimented by Hampster and Captain Slow. I think the "arrogance" that JC portrays in the show is by design and not a true reflection on his real personality.
Bring it on!! :y :y :y

It does, but the show is sold to over 150 other TV networks, the magazines, DVD's, merchandise etc make the BBC more money than any other show, that's why JC gets paid a lot of money, he is probably on a % of profits.

Arh, i see. I never thought of it that way :y

At least with sky we have a choice wether to pay and view or not.
Imo,the tv licence should be scrapped, and the bloated orginisation should have to survive in the marketplace with every one else.

Never happen, the funds go to the government & then a percentage goes to the BBC. Just another stealth tax >:(

Russel Brand is an irritating idiot Wossy is OK but not worth millions, I do like his enthusiasm over films.

Clarkson is very good at playing different roles

That and the fact that the Beeb is a hive of socialism. >:(
I agree about Ross/Brand being prosecuted.the Beeb should at least tear up their contracts.doing that to an old man is disgusting and proves yet again that you can buy almost anything but class,as did ross,s interview with Cameron.
On a brighter note, new series of wheeler Dealers on sky, Tues. night. :y
