We get mice sometimes, all since we got the cat.................. the bloomin thing catches them, brings them in the house and then looses them............

In all seriousness (and I know because my old man's got his own pest control company) use chocolate on the trap

I may have some rodenticide kicking about somewhere... I'll have a hunt later

Put some peanut butter on your mousetrap, they cant resist it.  Annother thing to try is parrot food, especialy the marrow seeds.

im out of peanut butter so ive put a cheese and pickle sandwich there  
well ive just checked and it hasnt been touched yet, probably waits till were in bed before it makes a move.

LOL thought you were trying to kill it not give it 5 course meal it will dodge the trap & come back later

Loaded trap & air rifle, just to be sure. I used to keep & breed Rats as pets but they were domestic or fancy rats (hate that term) Wild or feral are a different matter altogether.
    Cem, i agree with your sentiment but you don't want these tinkers breeding in your home.

dont think they are stupid these mouse traps are used for ages and they learn how to escape..

woke up this morning, trap is empty, there is a rope going from the curtains to the bed post and what looks like a parchute laying on the carpet. calls for drastic measures now. ive got a bit of semtex the old irish bloke downstairs give me in case all fails.  

could hear it in the night but as soon as i flicked the lamp it went quiet, trap still intact. they obviously dont like sweetcorn and tuna

Once lived in aptmnt in USA years ago it had warm air heating system so had several vents around the rooms, my wife and I could here this scratching noise nightly but never found anything when we put lights on, then one night using a torch i crept around the aptmnt noise coming from large wire mesh air vent by skirting board bent down shone the torch in 2 little eyes & very pale looking little mouse looking back at me so next morning unscrewed the vent & popped in the gardens outside, poor blighter was trapped as must have dropped down the vent inner casing (noooescape) so it was freeee! till some wild life got it ermmmm mmmm :-? o well i tried

Been 6 weeks since I last visited the van in outdoor storage when all was well as I did a few jobs on it and as we are (or now were), due to go away next weekend, thought we would nip up and check over the van today in readiness.

My wife noticed some black bits – mouse manure - on the carpet in the lounge area and asked if they were there when I last went – definitely not! Closer inspection and low and behold droppings everywhere, even on the bed.

Lifted the recliners off the duvet (where we store them) and couldn’t believe what I saw underneath. Mice had ripped the duvet locally to shreds and nested in it!! I saw about 6-7 of them crawl out of it and disappear under the bed area.

There was a disgusting yellow stain about 2ft in diameter which had soaked through the duvet and surrounding items and onto the mattress protector but fortunately has not marked the mattress.

They have had a go at one of the recliners which covered the nest and also one of the front seat backs.

No idea if the all of the wiring is still intact as they have even chewed the hard plastic feet off a cheese grater!

We have removed all items from the van today to disinfect everything and have left traps set.

I have had a look underneath the van but cannot identify where they have got in.

Should have removed the bedding I know but only left it in as we were due to go away the week before Christmas but cancelled it at the last minute.

So get rid of the little critters. I've always found a bit of "kit-kat" bar works well .. they seem to like the chocolate/cereal mix ..

see him properly for firsttime last night, walking about the kitchen floor, then it came in here, walked around, see me then run back under kitchen cupboard, came out a few times, every time i went to get a pic it ran. nippy little tinker. could be its last night tonight after ive set a few traps for it.

Found a nest in the glider trailer last year. Good job the little batsrad hadn't found his way into the wing.
