2005 '05' plate Omega
« on: 14 January 2009, 17:37:48 »

I remember some time in 2006 or early 2007 I saw on Autotrader an Omega 2.2 auto on an 05 plate. It was CD spec, in Rubens red metallic with the black velour interior. I recall in the advert it said something like...''this must be one of the last Omega's ever registered.'' I was just wondering whether anyone had seen any 05 plate one's? I know the Police had, or here in TVP still do have a few 54 plate's around but never seen any civilian one's so late as 05 plate.

Saw an 04 plater on Tuesday evening.
Plates are date of registration. I had one customer that was adamant he had a 2002 model GSXR1100.  I advised that the bike was not made after late '96. He even read out the reg plate and it was an '02.
It transpires that the bike had been un-registered in the showroom for 6 years.

Last Omega was built in early 2003.
What about removed private number plates? If I’ll buy a car without the plates (previous owner took private ones), what plates will I get? Not the latest ones?

You can't make a car look newer, you'd get an age related number. It used to be the case that you got a new/current number, but that loop hole was closed early 80s

Car will get reissued with its original day one VRM.

Even when you go in to buy a car brand spankers new and get your private plate put on it for delivery from the showroom, DVLA will shadow issue an age related mark which gets put back on when the private VRM is removed.

That original mark is non transferable, unlike any other similar VRM, irrespective of how boring or bog standard that may be....

I've seen many cars from mig 90 on 02-04 plates.
I understand that there might be a delay between manufacture date and registration date but it 1, max 2 years.
Isn't there any way to get new numberplates?

You've lost me somewhat....

Manufacture date and first registration date can be a looooong time apart in some instances, all depending on having the correct paperwork to confirm manufacture date etc.  See earlier post about very late registered motorbike further up the thread.

Not too well up on whats required but seem to remember something like a certificate of conformity or similar that confirms all the vehicle spec - chassis/engine, colour, trim, etc etc thats required to generate the V5 from DVLA.  If thats not available then, I think, the car gets an age related VRM.

Any car dealers able to confirm?

my mate's imported skyline has almost a year between manufacturer date (may 1998) and original registration date (Feb 1999 in japan), he's the first actual private owner and is down as that on the V5, first uk registration of it is 2008 but it's on a 1999 S reg plate
