Typical stupid NHS comment that one.....

They have a staffed MRI machine which is paid for and man'ed.

It should be little more than getting a slot.

If it was me, I would have them running 24 hours (minus service time) because the kit is by far the most expensive part and such assets needed to be sweated to make the most of them.

Just remember, this free health service accounts for 20% of government spend and on average we pay out 50% of our income to the tax man (council tax, vat, road tax, fuel tax, income tax, NI etc etc etc).....hence the free health service costs you 10% of your total earnings

I agree with Mark, a friend of mine has been attending the eye hospital for years, can't remember the name of what's wrong with him.

Anyway, they decided he needed laser treatment, to correct a deformity that was getting worse.

How long will I have to wait he asks, about 3 months, we have to book a slot, says the specialist.

Would it be quicker if I paid? asks my mate.

I could fit you in tomorrow morning, says the specialist.

Same hospital, same equipment, same specialist.

It took all of 5 minutes, and £600!

Sorry, to distract from your troubles, I hope your dad will be OK.

Hope it goes well, and your dad recovers soon.  :y

Ken

PS he's going to need to take it easy after this, and a Zafira's not the most comfy car. Couldn't you get him to change it for an Omega  ;D

This is the root of a lot of what is wrong in NHS hospitals ...... They pay the consultants a full time wage and they spend half of the working day doing private work (effectively being paid twice ) and the other half on the golf course while students cover for them !!!!!

Would any other worker get away with that ????  I think not.

When I worked in the theatres we would often start a shift cleaning up eqiupment (NHS gear) that had been used "privately". And NHS nurses and ancillairy staff would attend private ops during the normal working day .... surgeon and aneasthetist getting a huge wedge and the rest of us just getting extra work to do !!!!!

Better stop now before I go into full rant mode  >:(

Christian ...... I hope the results give good news, mate. :y

With the national campaign on at the moment about how quickly the reactions should be to stroke victims I'd be shaming the hospital concerned Nationally! >:( >:( >:(

Make sure you get the information to complain to the hospital board too!

Hope the test results are bringing good news today :y :y :y

Very true -- good timing for a complaint I would think. Lord knows how much this campaign has cost --- in reality the money would have been better spent getting the services provided up to scratch .... bl**dy pointless telling the world to get to hospital quickly and then not having the resource to deal with it!!!!!!!

He's home noe, the Results have to be sent to a brain specialist, they dont think its too serious.

But at least he's back at home with my Mom so he can relax in front of the Telly :)

He better take it easy, he has a constand painfull headache tho at the rear of his head, doctors say keep taking paracetamol but this is proberbly part of the problem.

Gunna lend him the DS tomo to get some brain training in because hes forgotton a few things like how to wash his hair and drive the Zaffy.

Its quite bloody worrying actually, i do hope he gets his thought back!
