Hmm, its different in Bradford. My daughter's place has a meter in the pavement, but its not used, the bill is fixed. I think there was something legal that prevented them from forcing you to have a meter, so some companies are a bit softer. Mind you the profit they are making is generally huge. I always thought it unfair about being charged for drainage, when that gives them the water they sell back to us.

My water bill used to be in excess of £600 pa!  Now on a water meter, same house, not changed usage habits, my bill is around £250 pa.

i live in a block of 6 flats and my annual bill is around £100 2 of my neighbours arn't on a meter and their bills are £410. but they STILL cannot be bothered to phone up and get it changed over.....
takes allsorts i supposed.................... ::)

Dont know much about the cost side of them,but got plenty expierience fitting the buggers.
