C30SE and C30SEJ - differences
« on: 11 March 2009, 13:49:41 »

Can you please advise what’s the difference between GM C30SE and C30SEJ engines? I am not after performance, power or torque differences, but technical/build ones.
I know it’s old engine, but maybe I can get some help.

The SEJ was only fitted to the Carlton.

There appears to be no major differences at all from what I can tell

So these are same engines? A friend of mine asked me this question, but I don’t know anything about straight 6 pots.

That's correct. The SEJ was fitted to the Diamond estates but while there's no discernable difference in the construction of the two, the SEJ 'officially' had less power!!!. Not a lot mind, I think IIRC it was only a difference of 5 BHP or so to take it below the 200 BHP mark.

I can only assume they detuned it in some way so as not to affect GSI sales! (Or not!  ;) )

there are slight differences in the ecu and a smaller exhaustalong with single pipe rear box, all designed to bring the torque in lower down to help haul the huge loads the estate is capable of carrying :y
