Have got some 8x40 binoculars which are OK for close up stuff.

I would like to buy a telescope to look at cormorants, geese, herons and a fish eagle about 2 Km away. What should I look for to buy? Cheap but effective.

 I know nothing about telescopes. Had a look at some in a shop and was shocked to see the image upside down!

I think the20-60 is magnification range,the other 60 is he size of the objective lens,(glas at the front of the scope)So subject will be 20 to 60 times closer through the scope.

Telescopes on the other hand need an erecting prism to put image up the right way.

I reckon a scope with camera mount would be the better so you can take pictures of your subject.
