Stained glass panel HELP
« on: 14 April 2009, 19:49:50 »

I have a 1890 tall ebonised antique cabinet, the bottom has a cupboard with a stainedglass panel, see picture, the panel is worse for wear, i need to replace the lead, the lead measures 5mm with a 3mm slot, does any of you guys know where i can get this lead from, i called an antique dealer and he wanted over £400 to refurb/replace the lead, he reckons it is something i could do but would not say where i can get the lead from.

There was a guy that made them in one of the old Mining units in Treeton, Rotherham a few years ago, maybe worth trying to look him up if you get stuck.

But first try some of the craft shops, a decent place I would try is Fred Aldous in Manchester. :y
