Nope, it is the 1.9 litre Turbo Diesel XUD - indirect injection.
Bulletproof - and quite drivable, with a blower on it :y

I have done several heads on the pug diesel engines, really is a weak spot on them, BTW James if you ever need an injector pump i have one sitting in my shed  :y

Thanks mate.

I think it's like the Rover - OK with proper coolant mixes, etc.

This one should be good for a few K, with a new HG and fresh ( VX :D ) coolant in there ;D

Nah, like the Rover, liable to blow its load at any point.  In fairness, when those XUDs do pop a HG, its normally spectucular ;D

A mate of mine found a more spectacular way of killing one. Turbo seal failure followed by revving its' nuts off until it runs out of engine oil. Closed the M3 due to poor visibility. ;D
