Amazon Books first class service
« on: 01 May 2009, 22:38:54 »

Over the last 18 months I have used Amazon to purchase many books, and I have been amazed how they manage a next working day delivery on just the 1-2 day first class service EVERY TIME!!

How do they achieve this, with even The Royal Mail meeting this fantastic level of service??!! :o :o :o :o

I complain a lot about the failures of the service industries in this country to provide the 'customer care' as a professional retailer I demand.  So, full marks of excellence to Amazon!! :y :y :y :y

Is this a general consensus of opinion about Amazon on here? :-? :-?

I do a few surveys and take payment in Amazon vouchers.

Good way of getting books. Last purchase got me 5 of them

Without doubt Ms Zoom Amazon are right there at the top. :y  I have just ordered The Armageddon Trade in hard back which cost less than the same title in paperback :)

I really don't know how they do it, delivery is consistantly quick, in most cases within 1 day of order - even to here, the furtherest point west in the Kingdom.  I was also astonished when I ordered a Sony Blu Ray player on Dec 22 2008,  it arrived the following day.

That's why they have a successful business - good inventory, attention to detail, professional application and great customer service. :y :y

In all, 10 out of 10

One of my clients currently has over 1,000 different ergonomic & office furniture items advertised for sale on Amazon. His turn around time is 2-3 days (for most items) but Amazon is pushing him to IMPROVE this to 1-2 days!

We are talking assembled desks and office chairs here - not small books - so 2-3 days is pretty good.

Not good enough for Amazon though - they want to be known as the fast delivery site. This is why eBay are starting to introduce changes for sellers where they will soon HAVE TO state how long it will take for items purchased to be delivered. They are trying to keep up with Amazon and failing!

The reason Amazon can normally get books to you next day is that they hold 90% of them in stock in 3 huge depots throughout the UK. They use overnight couriers to deliver the vast majority hence 24 (or less) hour turnaround.

Hugely impressive I agree.

I have always found them to be excellent, especially given their size.

They even gave me a refund on a coffee machine that went t1ts up after 11 months with no question at all, incl postage.

The Amazon market sellers I have bought from have also generally been excellent - they obviously control them well :y

Yup, no complaints here.

Used them many times, especially for last minute christmas prezzies!

Didn't matter what I bought, still came in great time.

I have always had good service from both Amazon and Amazon market sellers.  I wish I knew how they controlled Royal Mail though ( money talks I guess, with the volume they send).  I fear that large volume posters are pushing us small guys out and to the back of the Royal Mail queue though! ..... But that's another topic  >:(

In my opinion Lizzie........................Amazon are excellent for everything EXCEPT books.
We have ordered books three times from Amazon............NONE of which arrived within SIXTY DAYS......
We did receive two £25 ....Amazon vouchers /credit .....for their poor service however.......so a good result in the end.

We have received .........microwave...........CD's......stereo systems...and many more all by next day delivery............but books.............never again. :y :y :y

Such excellent delivery is only achievable on items stocked by Amazon themselves. Does not apply to marketplace traders etc...

I fear you are correct matey  :-/  We are small time posters ( only spend £5k per annum ) and the service we get from RM is pitiful. In the last two weeks alone we have 25 claims for late delivery ( all potential lost package claims ). Their tracking via the website is a joke (which Paypal take as gospel --- if it doesn't show as deilvered on "Track & Trace" they refund the buyer, if he / she claims non-delivery ( even after leaving feedback saying they are pleased with the goods!! ).

My blood pressure is rising as I type -- so I am off for a swift drink
