Choices - TV Types
« on: 10 May 2009, 13:54:39 »

Rather than hijack MD's thread i thought I would stary my own.

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1241936718/all

I am soon to be looking into a new TV (42") and was allways a Panasonic Vierra fan.

Between my mates I have often watched a anasonic Vierra (now about 4/5 years old).  A Sony Ambient thingy.  My brother has a year old Samsung but complains of odd delays and lip sycing with it (possibly a sky issue0 Annother mate has a 42" LSD Toshiba.  Plus have seen a few non brands TV's

So we have Plasma V LCD = Seems LCD is now the way to go.

But on opening the Samsung link on the above thread we now have LED which looks rather interesting.

But the is annother tab for ECO TV.

I love the look of the Samsung LED but have no idea of pricing.

Whats the Pro's and Con's and ultimatley is LED the best?

Do I bite the bullet and treat myself to a new TV in the next couple of months.  Or do I carry on watching a perfectly watchable 24" Toshiba CRT brought down out of my bedroom after I gave away my 26" Hitatichi which only had a new on/off button and transformer fitted to it in it's 26 years years of ownership.

My TV is on most of the day as I work from home so is on from 10am ish till gone well after midnight most days a week.

Now there is a very reliable make Skruntie that over the years has served me well in one shape or form with not just TV's. :y :y

Apart from Hitachi I also like Panasonic, Philips, and nowadays in particular, JVC.

If I were you Skruntie a LCD 42" TV, made by one of the aforementioned manufacturers, is the way to go, fitted to a convenient wall! :-* :-* 8-) 8-) 8-)

LCD & Plasma both have their pros & cons, ultimately you have to decide what looks best.
As far as OLED goes, while the image quality (and power consumption) is impressive, you won't be impressed with the price tag.

How much are you thinking of spending?

just looked at the prices on Ebay (Allthough it wont get bought off there)  40" £1150 and £1550 for the 46"

my local TV place (That I trust) do 2 46" Models with a tenner price difference, one has 3 years warranty, the other has 5, I have bot compaired the differences.

Allthough the £1650 price tag is high this is the same ammount was planning to pay for a Vierra 18 months ago.

26 Years ago when I bought the Hitachi 26" CRT that cost me £429 and looking back it was money well spent.

So looking at the present with a view to planning for the future.  Do I invest in an LED, wondering how long it will last.

or

Do I buy something like a Samsung LCD and Maybe an LG or Tosiba LCD and if there is any change I get an XBox 360.  That means I get a TV for the Living room and one for the bedroom. ::)
