Thule Rapid fit roof bars - Help needed
« on: 25 May 2009, 13:07:24 »

Some ones giving me a set of these, which he had lying arround.

Its the type were you insert the key at the end of the Bars and the end pops out with a piece of steel rod attacthed then the clamp moves along the Bar.

So, must be having a low IQ day, as I cant seem to get them to lock up on the estates bars, no matter what I do, what am I doing wrong?  >:(

Cant do pics at the mo, its the type where (I assuming) you unlock with the key pull the end bit then uncrew or screw to lock up the clamp. The bit I cant seem to do is when fully tightened its still quiet lose, if that makes sense.

yes i know2 what you mean
when you fully tighten it it should have a bit of movement untill you pul the lever down to finaly lock it off
if its still loose then you may need to pack where the screw part locks to the roof bar
hope that is of help to you

Right, think Ive sussed what the problem is. Theres a slot running underneath the Bar which is only cut out so far in. The slots not long enough to tighten it fully, which I assume means that the Bars are too big for the Mig Bars (prob off a Range Rover or something).

Any thanks Nick for your input, guess its off to Halfords now to get the smaller Bars.

So going to Halford I pass the Pub?,.....Halfords, Pub?..,Pub, Halfords??. Difficult choice on a Bank Holiday. ;)
