You can always argue the toss. In fact, never accept the first offer. If you provide proof of what they fetch, ie. auction sites or the trader, they will usually come closer to what it's worth.

Interesting point there is that when you apply for insurance they ask the value, what's the point when they wont pay that value.

£1495 excellent condition
£1045 average
£895 below average
Id say mine was above average but not excellent.
