Boiler (Potterton Suprima HE60) went to lock out this morning. Mrs began to panic and spoke of going to buy calor gas heaters!!!

Me -  sat down with Potterton manual - mug of tea and bacon sandwich. Found fault condition in manual (steady flashing lock out light) equals Air Pressure Switch. (Equivalent of pedal test).

5 screws and both covers off boiler in 5 mins.

Looked at drawing with 2 air tubes from Pressure Switch to body of boiler - felt around tube with a view to removing to clean and - found a crack in one of tubes where it meets boiler. Cut it back and reconnected - boiler fired straight away.

i think the money she wanted to blow on heaters she should treat you now to a nice meal out and a few beers

Did a neighbours last night, Worcester plastic thing in the bathroom flashing red light instead of solid blue and no heat but hot water. System pressure had dropped below 1bar so it had shut down. Re-pressurised up to 1.5bar then bled the entire system checking for leaks. Pressure down to about 1.25bar now and running fine. Found the pressure leak though! His son (royal pain in the a$$) had a bleed key in his bedroom and a damp towel stuffed under the radiator, Bleed valve was dripping so he'd obviously been playing

Those Suprimas have a habit of constantly going into lockout due to ecu faults.  About £150 for new part, but easy to change, though often poor soldering so possibly repairable.  Worth remembering.
