waste of time last time i tried it, just  play the recording in the hard drive and record on you chosen device.

reason being you cant use the box while recording via copy, and box tends tho throw a wobbler if interupted. So may as well just use play and keep it simple...and do it before you go to bed to save the boardem

There was a box mentioned that allows you to record from Sky + (HD) to a PC, it was on a thread I started.

Dont think you can just copy from a sky HD to annother source without playing it at the same time.   :-/

pretty certain sky would not be able to broadcast programmes if its recording equipment allowed digital copies to be made. So short answer, no.

Obviously, there are workarounds, but pretty certain such discussion would break our rules....

yes. all copy does is play the sky recording with a title at the start to say what the recording is and put the box into copy mode while your other device records the sky box.
Copy mode means the box can not then be used until the recording is finished, and it gets upset if someone picks up the remote and presses buttons.

So its safer to simply press play on the sky recording and record on your recording device, which presumably is connected via scart?

Either use a standalone DVD recorder (and then rip the resultant DVD to your PC to clean it up and remaster), or use proper hardware based capturing equipment and run it straight in to your PC (where again, you tweak it the way you want and then slap it back to DVD).

Please note that "proper" capture hardware is NOT a USB or PCI based capture device, they are about as much use as a chocolate ashtray.

thats true of some sky films and sports progs. but generally its not been an issue to record from sky plus to panasonic dvd recorder via q link function. except if the recording is interupted then you have waisted a disc, more than that, if copy mode is used and interupted you risk loosing hard drive recordings as well, but i should mention i've not tried it on the hd box, it may be more stable by now but knowing sky it wont be.
