Only if that is part of the deal, after all you could buy a car with no MOT, or 3 months, the choice would be up to you if you were to buy it or not..... :)

as reply no1, but also be aware that an MOT does not mean it is neccesarily a road worthy car.

If not sure when buying a car then budget for an MOT and take it to a place you trust, better to be safe than sorry.

A good car centre should allways put/offer to put a full 12 month ticket on, it helps thier reputation.

Personally if you are buying they tell them you expect it as part of the deal., and make sure they put right /agree to sort the adviseries if any before payment is made.

I do know that some places will only accept part exchanges if they have a certain amount of MOT on so they have a chance of selling them. I don't think there is anything in stone about it though.....

When I bought the cdx it was from a dealer and had 3 months warranty and had 8 months MOT which was about the same as what was left on my Polo which I part ex't against it. It has since passed 2 MOT's with no work needed and no advisories.

An MOT is certification that a vehicle was in a roadworthy condition at the time of testing.

The fact that a vehicle has 11 months MOT left just means there are 11 months before it is due for next MOT.

It does not mean that vehicle is guaranteed to be in a roadworthy condition.

It's a negotiable item.  You say "put it through the MOT" and the dealer says yes.  You then think you've got something out of the dealer and feel pleased with yourself, but he'd already worked out the cost and added it on to the asking price, so he isn't actually giving anything away.  And who knows, one day some sucker will come along who doesn't ask, and he's quids in. :)

Cynical? Moi?  :)
