good grief. My first computer had a massive 540k hard drive. Mind you in those days cars were preceded by a man with a red flag and programme writers didn't write  "bloatware"! ;D ;D

On a different side.

SSD

I bought one of the 64GB hard drives to test, not cheap, but wanted to see what they were about.

The one I bought has no cash, but have seen drives upto 256GB and one of them was 128GB with 64MB cache.

Swapped my hard drive and fitted/formatted/installed XPro on my old machine as the old install is running slow.

Same sort of time for the install, boots and run smooth in windows, system is a lot quieter. no heat from the drive at all.

Only problem Ihave had was installing Command and conquer Kane Edition, had a file error about a 3rd of the way through the intall.  but could have been any one of the following issues that caused it.

PC only has 1GB installed (Never been an issue of Kane Edition before)

PC is laid on ists side, so is the DVD drive
SSD has no cache  - My thinking is it is struggling when dealing with the large files whilst installing the game.

Will try again when PC is upright.

Had the drives not been so exspensive I fancid the 128GB/64MB cache version just to create a dual boot system and use the SSD for the OS on diferent partition's.
