Massive Earthquake hits Chile
« on: 27 February 2010, 07:39:48 »

apparently 80 times more powerful than the recent Haitian quake :o

thankfully its away from populations but it may trigger tsunamis, although unlikely

Just had an email off the wife who is in Hawaii right now (female dog!) and their tsumani warning has been sounded for the first time since the 60s!  All the hotels in waikiki have been told to move their guests to the top floors and they reckon that Hilo on the big island will get hit first.  Thankfully it shouldn't be too big although there are 8 waves on their way so the effect can be compounded....

The wife is on high ground  :y
