If they do this I won't pay road tax, simple as! £435 a year for a car is a pathetic amount already, if they go up anymore well I'm just lost for words really.

Other reports are suggesting he will reduce the costs for the long suffering motorist. Only time will tell I suppose. :-/

This government, like the previous lot, treats motorists as a minority group of wealthy sinners, when the truth is that they form part of the backbone of our economy.

If you watch the M25 during the working week, for example, one would soon relaise that few of the vehicles are being driven for pleasure, the majority are involved in one economic activity or another.

If this comes to pass, the government will become even less popular. ::) ::) >:(

Another good headline from the Press .. not one element of fact in it .. just loads of maybes, perhaps, mights, coulds ....

What you ACTUALLY have .. under the sub heading "after experts warned" is, in reality, the opinion of one man "Dan Harrison, of motoring website honestjohn.co.uk, said it seemed likely"

now quite why/how he suddenly becomes "experts" is a mystery to me .. but no doubt it will sell papers....

Now it is NOT a lie or untruth .. it is speculation ...... (also known as guesswork)

However it seems some already believe it to be "fact" when it clearly is no such thing

Why let the truth get in the way of a good story ???

:)

It could also be a bit of spin. Put the rumour out there, then if the rise is "only" half what the rumour said it would be, the motorists think they got off lightly ? ;) ::)

I would be willing to pay as much as £1000 a year to keep my trusty zafira on the road. I pity you unfortunates who have to shell out that amount each year for repairs. ;D

Its a typical government ruse. leak out the rise will be £200 and when it comes in at £20 for each band we will all sigh with relief. been done many times before.

Except this is NOT from government .. it is from a shitstirring journalist trying to make a name for himself and his website.

I wouldn't complain .........
Mine arrived last week telling me that I could look forward to paying €614 ( £535 ) for the forthcomming year and that's for a 2 Lt if I had a 3 Lt it would be €1293 or €1566 for a 3.2 Lt .

I hope it's all a rumour ..... :y
