Britain isnt lazy country Geoff. We were the workshop of the world, and taught the world how to work. I think H21 has alluded to the problem though. We are breeding a generation who have been given the green light to not having to bother working, as they can get by on taxpayer handouts (especially if they are prepared to tell a few fibs) and mark my words - the current influx of hard workers who are grabbing the opportunities presented to them will, in the not too distant future be the hard line union acivists demanding this that and the other. I have already seen signs and examples of it.
Once they become as comfortable and blase about their new found living standards as some British people already are, they will wake up to the fact that they are having the p1ss taken out of them, and thats when the trouble will start.
The answer is to put our own people back in the position (and relearn the British mentality) that if you want something you have to work for it. When that happens the British could easily be known across the world as extremely hard working and entrepeunerial people - as they were for many a year.

In short, dont wait for people to decline the handouts. Remove the handouts and then they will remember how to graft at least as hard as anyone else.
