yes i do i have had it a about a month but only taxed it at the start of the month and its all i wanted it to be if perhaps a little slow getting to 60 lol  but that is not the reason i got it . ass you can tell i had a senny and the only reason i got rid of it was a slight oil leak exhausts where needing changed and two rust spots comming up, i fancied a change so i got myself a shogun now there was nothing wrong with it but it lacked the power of the senny for towing . and a bit slow it was a 3.0 petrol and no it never got to 60 in 7 secs .i have always liked the omega but it got slated by senator owners and i have seen a lot of meegas on ebay with the head or cam cone so put me off but i still found myself looking at them and by chance i went on ebay and found one in dundee whuch is verry rare. it hade a phone number so i phoned him at 10.00 at night then went down to see it that night it is a 3.0 elite dark grey 59k on it with service book stamped up at diferent garages 2 owners 5 new tires and pretty good nik for age so i got it there and then for £780 its r reg but only 97 model so now i have had a chance to play a little i am falling in love again ohh boys and there cars well you all know what i mean all the toys work surpries well exept 1 my heated seat the electric seat works just wont heat my bum lol oh well better go before i put you all to sleep so thats my story whats yours??? :y

Mate,

First off, = welcome to the forum :y

Sounds like you had a good buy with your Elite.

Apart from a brief spin, I've not driven a Senny much. I've heard they're very good, but they don't handle quite as well as a Meega (as standard). Meega is a much newer looking car too, and doesn't get (quite as much!) rust as the senny (in my opinion!)

I must have a proper drive in Tunnies...... ;D

Don't take any offence to my previous post... but I can assure you - Mark does have all his facts straight - he is an extremely knowledgable guy, and I am still extremely grateful for all the help and advice he's offered me, both over the forum and in person.

I would also be very interested to here Broocie's stories of fast motorway Senny driving  ::)

Tunnie and I have proven that the 3.0l MV6 V6 just has the legs on the the 24v Senny at high speed (both autos), and is quicker at slower speeds. Both cars have similar mileage.

My own feeling from driving these is that the top speed will be similar (approaching the 150mph mark), but with the v6 having better low down acceleration (possibly due to newer gearbox software and mostly the multiram system (far better than the dual ram on senny)).

I don't think I've driven a manual 24v Senny, but I would suspect the same would apply, ie similar results above, if put up against a manual v6 3.0l

Possibly overall gear ratios helps the Omega. 90 mph on the Senator is 3000rpm (indicated WhatCar? of the day shows the Senator as 29mph/1000rpm ..... I still have it somewhere :-[) whereas the Omega 'only' does about 85mpg at 1000rpm IIRC

no :P  lol joking aside the meega looks better newer and not as rusty yet lol ...but all my friends agree that the omega feels slower and my 0-60 is 9 secs as it should be im not joking i dont know if it was chiped or not but when you put the foot down it threw you back no mater what speed you where doing but with the meega it seems more refiend it just seems more controled the senny seemed more agressive. and it had the adjustable suspenstion which i dont think you get on the meega pitty....and the meega has a lot more toys oh cant wait till you can get a 3.2 for a grand 2 or 3 years yipeee.....

I think the multiram on the Omega smooths out the torque better, whereas the dual ram in Senny gave it peaks of torque. I think this falsely makes it feel faster.

If your 3.0l is 9s to 60, check the multirams are working, as it should be high 7s/low 8s for an auto (faster for manual)

Having driven both lots......the senator feels faster due to the poorer power delivery.....as a person in a car what feels fast is a sudden change in power output...in the case of a Senator thats around the 4000rpm point where the dual ram changes over....the V6 multiram gives a MUCH flatter and more progressive torque curve.

If yours is lacking low down grunt then something is wrong.....

As for 0-60 and top speed, there both about the same, although the wind noise (particularly) on the facelift) is much less.

For me the Senator is a good car but, its now very dated and feels dated to....the handling is less assured as well thanks to the very heavy power plant and its position in the engine bay making the car nose heavy which results in quite a sudden break away of the rear.

so thats my story whats yours??? :y

I'd always fancied an Omega for years but they were always a bit out of price range until a few years ago. I had a 3 year old Citroen Xsara estate that I got quite cheaply from a mate's Company car fleet, but never really liked it as although it was economical and cheap to run it was too small. When my ex-missus wanted a new car she asked if she could buy mine so that I could look around for a bigger one. Eventually found an Omega 2.5 V6 CD Estate on Autotrader going quite cheaply so went to the dealer Arthur Daly car dealer and ended up buying it. Spent a fair bit of cash getting it sorted out (cambelt kit, full service etc) and fell in love with it. :-* Recently done a deal with a couple of our Scottish forum members and ended up with the MV6 Irmscher Estate that I cuurently have :y
