Supply from Japan
« on: 15 March 2011, 08:51:17 »

In 1995 japan had an earthquake near the city of Kobe, wear Dunlop made a fair portion of their tyres at the time, production stopped and certainly bike tyres where in short supply from them and Bridgestone I believe.

Fairly sure Dunlop and Bridgestone now have plants in the uk, but surely there will be some knock on effect from Japan? Certainly parts supply from Honda for cars has been mentioned on the news.

Shouldn't affect GM parts but I'm sure most of us have second cars to look after....?   :-/

Yes It's certainly a justifiable concern in light of the latest news about the Fukushima power plant.

Hmm. :-/ Mrs. KW has a Mazda, but fortunately nothing ever seems to break on it and, if it does, Mazda parts are so expensive I would need my head examined if I ever started buying genuine parts for it.

The only thing that's ever failed was a coil pack, and they wanted over £300 for that :o

Needless to say the pattern part that I fitted was more sensibly priced.
