Quite a few get it removed as they age due to the shocks and springs being difficult to acquire from places other than dealers.

Not sure when VX first moved into self levelling but I had a 1984 Carlton Estate and I recall it had self levelling

Mmmm something else expensive to go wrong then  :(
Dare I ask how much to replace or do I just drop my trousers and bend over the stealers desk?

Sl shocks are 150 a pair on tc, sl springs can be had from kyb for 90 to 100 odd depending on supplier.

In fact I have a pair of kyb sl springs going spare... :y

Should add, pump and sensor can usually be had from breakers on here.

My 2.2 C reg Carlton saloon also had it. I believe it was also an option on the Senator B too (as well as the ride control)

Quite so, but not for £50, they where only on the car for 6 months.  ;)
Depends the preferred ride quality.

Personally I find the standard spring and S/L Shock combo the best compromise for someone who, like me, wants to keep the S/L. It does seem to have improved the feel from the back end some (although not massively I must admit) and still keeps the S/L for when it's well loaded/towing :y :y
