I'm starting to wonder about this. I'm leaning towards a tank in the spare wheel well. Out right capacity is not a big issue, as I generally have to fill up every day or so anyway, and I have a full size spare at the mo too, so think that a tank the size of a standard 225/55/16 tyre, possibly an inch or so greater diameter would be just the ticket. :-/

I've been reading your other lpg related threads with interest and am wondering when the estate might be being done with a view to popping along to see what's what.

That could save me £100 a week :o

quite scary when you stop and think about it.

In mileage terms, I reckon I save, on average, 8-9p per mile - sometime more, occasionally less ::). Thats a saving of £8-9 every 100 miles (my commute is around 57m round trip).  Or £80-90 per month for my usual mileage.  So, even om my modest miles, 7month payback isn't far off ;)

I should also add, this is an unfair comparison, as (once the car is warmed fully, and always let it cool properly) due to the low fuel costs, you do tend to drive, errrr, 'less economically'. You think you won't, but you do ::)

And you realise how less economically when you do the cardinal sin, and run out of LPG and have to run on petrol, and see how the gauge goes down ::)

Petrol wise, I brimmed the MV6 in early Decemeber to get weight over rear axle due to snow, its been complaining about Range for about a week now.  It will probably run another month or 2 before needing filling (I'll only pop £30 in, as its summer), but I'll do it sooner rather than later as:

a) The lights annoy me ::)
b) I have a tendency of running out of gas  :-[, so I need some range on petrol

Petrol use in Winter is higher, as the car takes longer to reach a temp where LPG works (esp if you just leave it on the drive, idling, defrosting ::)), and I tend to increase the switchover temp and times - though the Stag 300 Plus ECUs do have a temperature correction facility that we need to play with.

Simply depends if you do enough miles to get the cost of the install back in fuel saving, and then how long we'll be driving on gas after that.

I'd suggest anyone keeping a car for longer than a year and commuting would benefit.
However there's other things to consider. Where's your local lpg station? No point if you live in a remote area and have to travel 20 miles in the wrong direction to fill a small donut tank with 150 miles range, in an Estate or upright wheel well for instance. As that reduces the effective range by the distance taken to fill up obviously. Tank options are key too.

Bigger the tank your least likely to run out and have to use petrol, and less time traveling to fill up rather than commute or enjoy your holiday rather than seeking out log etc etc..

Anyway, I'm rambling and stating the obvious. YES of course it's worth it. :y

old my old commute it saved me £10 per day, now mine needs a little work to be done to it, new shocks, springs, exhaust, to add to the new battery and rear pads just done.

But each time i go home, i save at least £10, so its paying for itself again and again  :)
