Just had a look on Google Streetview, I wondered if there was something else there but it looks very simple to get through.

I remember this from a few years back.    The gap between the bollards at Woodmere Avenue was originally 2.1 metres and the width of my Audi is 2.08 metres, so it didn’t take a lot of working out that it would be tight, hence so many accidents. It was later widened, due to so many accidents, by an additional 6 inches, so I’d have an additional 3 inches on either side to play with. 
It was for this reason that pick-up trucks, 4x4’s etc, chose to use the bus lane through the middle of the road, as they genuinely did not fit through. My own personal method in situations like this is to run ridiculously tight on the drivers side (the side I can see) which gives a bit of leeway on the passenger side. There’s a similar set-up in Bicester with a 7 foot width restriction and I’ll admit to avoiding that road.

I go through some like that in Witham most days.
The number of people who come to a stop and crawl through the gap gingerly, with nearly six inches clearance either side amazes me.
Theres more than six inches now though because someone ripped one of them clean out of the ground a few weeks ago.

Bro had one as a courtesy car from the insurance whilst his car was being fixed.  He concluded on day 1 that it was pretty shit.

Yet you go on any XE forum, and the polishing brigade cream their jeans over the X-Type, and how they wished they'd not replaced with an XE.

I really, really rate the XE as a drivers car - light, nimble, handles fantastically - though accept that any idiot with a soot chucker following the service schedule will have a oppsed engine quickly.  And our example, the thick brummies building it, forgot to do any anti corrosion on every single fixing.

It was my ex wife's and became mine after she'd had her fussy out with it - took about 2 months  . Honestly I didn't hate it, the worst thing was that considering the fuel economy, I could have been driving a V8 instead.
