257000 miles, blown turbo  !!

257000 trouble free miles  (1 water pump, doesnt count ).  As usual  extra expense after xmas /new year. can any one help or recommend a reliable source. many thanks.

Check out the breakers.........there is a turbo company near here that do rebuilds (Midland Turbos, normaly under 300 quid)

tried midland turbo's , seem to be the best of the bunch.  175+vat  to recon my unit or 410+ vat if my unit is u/s.

The recon price seems OK. Trouble is, you don't know until they start if yours is really fubar

sorry to hear of the prob......but blimey as TB say that amazing milage......i hope my merc diesel can do the same  :) .....tho vectraB is now on 180k  :-X

Err, the Omega was built in Germany, and the motor is BMW.....

omegatoy would be the person to see on this, he has a high mileage 2.5 diesel.

You could give the scrappy a try, although I think the diesels are rarely found in there. I think there was one being broken on fleabay recently...

No I wouldnt!!! mine has only completed 99281 as i type!!!
However turbo was one thing i researched before buying and it appears to be bulletproof except on high mileage wear, but BMW,RANGE ROVER, and 2year run on the frontera all use the same turbo, there are quite a few being broken of these3 so finding a good used on wouldnt be too hard
