Hello.

Im having a strange problem with my 3.0. I go to the grocery store. Then come out 20mins latter and the car wont start. It doesn't make any kind of starter problem/alternator battery sounds at all. When I give the car a day to sit, it will start, no problem.

This has been happening progressively in frequency.

Also, sometimes when i shut the engine off, the cooling fans make a horrific sound like wounded animal. When i spray Lubricant it stops for a while but comes back. do i need to replace?

When you say not starting, is the engine cranking over at all, any sign of a click from the engine bay (specificaly just below the coolant header tank)?

No clicking, and yes the engine is turning over.

Sometimes engine turns over but wont fire up..works OK at other times...seems to be getting more frequent.
I would go for crankshaft position sensor, inexpensive and fairly easy to fix.

Squeeling fans....you say spraying it with lube helps so its got to be the bearings but check that the blades are not catching on anything. Dont work on the fans with the engine warm...they can start up on their own and will remove fingers.
If you are mechanically adept you can usually find out how to get into the fan motors, the bearings will probably be simple bronze spherical sleeve bearings and will have dried out...the fix is to soak them in oil for 24hrs (the bronze is porous) and clean the shaft.

I did suspect the crank sensor.. and will be replacing to rule out.

I also have a coolant leak coming from one of the banjo bolts in the back, the one that goes to where the oil cooler is.. I do remember hearing somewhere that the spark plug pack can get wet and have problems from a leak back there....

This would explain why i only have the problem after a drive... and then it takes about 20mins to out wait the problem and it will start back up.. Possibly it takes time to get them wet.. then when they dry.. i get spark and it starts..

Now where is this thing located?

Is it near the oil filter?

Not wanting to be a pedant (but that means that I am going to be anyway....) I entered the words 'crank sensor location' into the search function of this forum and asked for the past years worth of entries.  

It gave me loads of pages to review.

Hopefully there will be one to assist you.

Crank sensor is in between the oil filter and auto box bell housing....held in with a small torx bolt.

When replacing, re-route the cable away from the engine and up the left hand side (drivers in US) inner wing close to the brake lines and across to the top of the engine to the connector, thsi is a different route to original but, keeps it well away from hot exhausts and oil cooler pipes which should make it considerably more reliable....
