high i have had trouble with the ignition lights staying on when the key is removed, i called out the a.a. and he checked on his computer,  he said it looks like one of the relays the number is k17 but he could not find it, does anyone know where it is, he didnt seem to bothered looking for it either, can anyone help please

Post what year of car it is first......I suspect ignition switch fault actualy as I dont recall any relay.....also, what dash lights stay on, illumination or warning indicators

its an omega elite 1996 auto all the dash lights are on but they are dim and the mid stays on cheers john.. sorry its the warning lights..

If you remove F15....do they go off....?

I would also pop the instrument cluster out and give the earth connection which is on the steering column mount a good close inspection......and ensure its tight.....


By the way, as usual, the AA man is VERY wrong....K17 is only associated with the 2.5TD.....so as you dont have a 2.5TD I doubt that will be the trouble!

Can't see a K17 on my wiring diagrams (which are 2002), so cannot help further at the moment....

The daft bugger of an AA man has simply looked throguh a list, seen a relay called 'polarity protection relay' and assumed its that wihou even reading the wiring diags properly....

So, in summary, K17 only exists on th 2.5TD engine in the ECU box under the bonnet....

My money is on a bad instrument cluster earth contact.....
