Gearbox limp - I think it's selector switch !
« on: 26 April 2007, 16:18:25 »

Right, car has been in limp mode all evening and all day today. No amount of checking wires, and reseating connectors, did any good.

So I followed Mark's advice, and took the selector switch off / apart. When I cleaned it all up, and put it back on the car, and fired it up. I tried the S button... and IT WORKED!

I put the selector in R to move the car backwards, and sport mode went off - and back into limp mode. I notice now, since cleaning the switch up, that when selecting some gears.. incl 2nd and neutral, ALL of the lights on the selector panel light up and stay on.

Maybe the selector has been faulty from the start - as an additional problem to my initial connector one?

I have a known good selector switch on the 2.0 that I can pull off and try, if it's the same?

Thoughts much appreciated :)
