Traction Control Problem

Hi All,

I was having a bit of fun on a deserted roundabout this morning when the back end was just about to come out and the engine felt flatter and stopped the oversteer. I now know this is the traction control.

When i press the button an orange light comes on and stays on (which i thought would mean the traction control on)

But this happened this morning with the button not pressed and no orange light on.

Am i missing something or is it just on permanantly?

I believe if the orange TC light is on then either there's a problem or it's turned off.

If you press the TC switch, the light comes on but traction control is turned off. It seems a bit opposite, but I guess it's so you realise it's off. :)

Seeing as TC should be on most of the time (without starting a seperate ego debate on whether or not it should have TC), makes sense for telltale to be off.  The telltale comes on when the system is not working (for whatever reason - failure or turned off)

Just putting some off what it says in the Omega Owners Manual::

When the TC comes into action (TC light on the dash) flashes.
During the control operation, the engine power outout is reduced (the sound of the engine changes)

Switching off the TC
In certain circumstances where slippage of the driving wheels is required, i.e. slight spinning of the wheels is desired, for example:
1/ When driving with tyre chains or
2/ Driving in deep snow
3/ Or rocking the vehicle to free it from deep snow,
it may be advisable to switch off the TC by pressing button (tc). The control indicator (tc) lights up to show that the system has been switched off.

On 4 circuit ABS units, it applies brake first, then cuts power if still slipping...
