alarm death threats!!!
« on: 28 May 2007, 11:50:20 »

Hi guys

I have a really wierd problem with my alarm system and could do with some help before the neighbours kill me :'(

on the way home from work on friday, travelling at about 50mph on the A2 the alarm siren suddenly went off, i indicated to pull over to the hard shoulder and when slowing down it stopped going off so carried on home got home with no further probs and didnt think anything more about it.

Saturday night, some 30 hours later, the alarm started going off - and this is the another wierd bit - I couldn't turn it off with either the key buttons or putting the key in the ignition and starting the car! wierd bit part 2, the indicators were not flashing. In the end i disconnected the battery, expecting the alarm to go off and it didnt.

I reconnected the battery sunday morning and it didnt go off til 4am this morning so i have just disconnected the battery for now.

So, any ideas????

Regards and HELP :'(

Tony

sounds like the powered sounder has lost the plot ... do you get some short beeps after setting the alarm as that indicates the sounder's internal battery is failing ...

It does sound like a power sounder fault.

I know that some of the guys on here have disconnected the power sounder.

Don't ask me how though.

What's the battery condition like? Is the battery in a fully charged state and is the battery light staying on whilst driving? I had the same problem but without the alarm going off when driving. The alarm would just go off when it felt like it and used to get the beeps after activating the alarm. Now I don't as I have put a new alternator and battery on. Problem solved no more sleepless nights. Just a thought

Thanks

Battery is reading 12.4 volts so I presume its not that

should the indicators have been flashing when the alarm goes off?

disconnect the power sounder. It is at the back on teh left of the engine bay as you look from the front.
