The Final Mystery ?
« on: 04 June 2007, 20:01:17 »

Some of you guys have been extremely helpfull, prompting me to investigate a vacuum pipe problem and having a fumble behind the engine.

I've had a couple of problems which thanks to your advice, I suspect are related.
Further to my thread "Lost Vacuum Pipe" I found that the wrong pipe had been attached to the rear multiram so "reattached" the
"Lost Vacuum Pipe".......removing the wrongly fitted pipe.

My other problem is that I can't get any heat into the car, well apart from luke warm air for 2 mins.

NOW ! Guess what pipe was wrongly connected to the rear multiram....

Yep ! The vacuum pipe running from the Heater Bypass Valve.

So hopefully my final question is: Where does the vacuum pipe that runs FROM the HBV, plug in to. I know I'm a bit of a
dimbo, but couldn't see on the famous "pipe work" diagram where it goes FROM the HBV.

Hopefully once I know..and have another fumble in her neither regions.....ALL might be working correctly again...

Many many thanks for any help you can provide on this matter.

Rgds,
Chris.

I think the pipe from HBVgoes into the bulkhead. Follow the 2 water pipes from the left of the HBV (left being drivers side as you face front of car) & just above the lower one to the right you should see a small opening, it plugs in there. There is a pic on here somewhere one of the admins posted but can't find it at the mo

follow the main vacuum pipe from the brake servo, all the vacuum pipes are fed off there. See also the vacuum pipe maintenance guide here

This is really frustrating.

I'm now left with the vacuum pipe that runs from the Heater Bypass Valve with no where to go. As mentioned the diagram shows the connection point for said vacuum pipe, hanging down, but neither shows the pipe OR where it connects.

By Heater Bypass Valve, I mean the black valve with 3 water pipe locations and 1 vacuum pipe location.

Surely someone knows where to plug it into.....looking at the main vacuum pipe, all locations are taken...so where on earth does the vacuum pipe that comes from the HBV connect too.

Blimey !   Thank you SOOOOOOOO much.

Well.   If I don't get my hand stuck, needing the fire brigade or AA to come and rescue me, HOPEFULLY I'll get this sorted out tonight.

Many thanks to all once again....

Just one more quick question...Whats the "orangey" coloured pipe/hole for please.

I'll be killing myself trying to get my hand in to this space so I thought i'd try to check all the other "bits" were connected correctly while i'm stuck in there.
