can anybody identify waht this plug is ...directly below the icv facing forward of the engine...rubber plug that appears to connect into a socket at the end of the cable tray with the vacuum pipes ontop of (sorry for long winded description but camera broke so cannot photo)..anyway when i move this plug the engine stalls..so think this could be the cause of my erratic running..have just started car on drive on tickover..all over the place..when fiddled with the plug it was worse and tc light came on ..now this car is not even moving so how come ? anyway continued moving plug and engine stalled and died..will restart but is "hunting"all the time and sound like it is sucking in air..any idea where this plug connects to as think this is my problem..also should the fitting be air tight or is it just a cable tray it goes into

Cam sensor.....is the wiring in the cable tray ok, not shorting out any where...

If there was a fault with cam sensor would it post a fault code?will strip out tray in morning and have a look at wiring as now convinced that is where my problems are,although car does run but erratic

should post an error code if unpluged yes but with it being vauxhall who knows

Had auto electrician out today and his magic machine only told me what the paperclip did..22 tps..but did identify issues with icv all of which i had suspected..anyway bottom line was he suggested that i got a new icv and the plug and part of the loom that goes to the tps...found a local breaker who had a v reg cdx with the engine inplace ..so £15=00 later armed with the bits i got to work....replacement icv is now spotless and added a few drops of 3/1 oil...traced wiring back to cable tray and !!!!!found that the metal bracket that holds the ac pipe away from the dipstick area was loose and have been rubbing against the wiring and had split the outer cover..could just see the inside of the wire within so suspected it had been causing a short...duly replaced the wiring back to a sound section and fitted the replacement plug and section of wire..all in place so started up...bingo..all seemed fine ..no lights and steady tickover although was fairly high at 1000..so am hoping that it will settle down in due course..just been out agian between thunder storm to ensure not a fluke and is running fine and with a/c on steady at 650/700rpm...so looks like after spending £70 + on new tps it was no more than the wiring..moral of the story must be to check everything before buying anything..anyway lets hope it is now sorted ..but again thanks for help and advise to TB and MarkDTM for their patience with my stupid questions,but how do we learn??cheers guys

If the idle doesn't settle down to normal, check you've not got an air leak around the joint between the ICV and the plenum. It is a dodgy connection and needs to be pressed firmly home to seal.

Thanks Kevin for advise..have pushed rubber bung in as tight as can and then fitted a black cable tie across icv and around metal bracket so hope it is not pulling icv housing down causing air leak...seems such a crap design for an air tight seal just to push in and hope the weight of the unit and car vibration doesn,t shake it loose..any other ideas as to how it should stay airtight
