after all that carry on with overheating and changing the hbv i thve noticed my rad system is not getting pressuried i thake it this is a bad sign? any ideas no matter how silly they sound i will check oh and since i did the hbv the heater only blows hot for a min??? help!!

Step 1 - full coolant flush if you haven't done already, including a flush and reverse flush of the heater matrix and radiator.

Step 2 - make sure the thermostat is operating properly, and isn't stuck open (Vauxhalls usually fail in this position).

Step 3 - make sure you don't have an airlock. With the header tank cap OFF, run the engine for a bit with the heater controls all set to Hi/Max - you will probably see the coolant level rise in the tank after a bit - this is the time to put the cap on.

Step 4 - make sure your vaccum pipes are routed and connected properly. Mark's guide in the manitenance section is very good.

Those suggestions can be tried in any order - just bear in mind you don't want to be putting fresh antifreeze in if you're then going to flush it out - so do the flush(es) as the first job..

i have tried all of these exept the thermostat is it possible the thermostat was stuck closed and when i put the hose through it it forced it open now wont go back ?
would this screw up the heating it strange because if you turn it down then up it gets hot but not for long

Ah ha. That suggests a problem with vaccum then...

my god you were up late last night well this morning ;D well i have checked the vac pipes but i will check again if my memory serves me right there was no suck at the vac.i take it there should be??
