im guessing gen parts are recomended, ill pop to the dealers in the week if i could get a list of parts needed if at all possible

I wouldn't have put it quite like that, but, yes!

Just an update on the oil smell, had a look and found both cam covers to be leaking. purchased all seals needed at local Vx dealer, last monday and started job this afternoon, on removing the pasenger side cam cover both rear bolts were half out of threads  , got that side finished and gonna do driver side tomorow, but all going well so far.

You'll find the driver's side is a piece of cake by comparison!

Well, got the job all finished yesterday afternoon, all went smoothly and started first try. After a run today the car runs fine with no smell of hot oil
