Re: Aircon re-gas
Make sure whoever does the job use UV dye. I had mine done at Kwik-Fleece.
The system they use showed NO LEAK DETECTED, so they continued with the re-gas. Left there feeling cooler than Ten polar bears on an iceberg.
Following day...NO COOLING !!
Went back to K-F. They checked the temperature again and confirmed that it was not cooling, but as I'D left there with it working, there was nothing they could do.
I took the car to a place that did the same but with UV dye and their system also showed NO LEAK DETECTED so they to continued with the re-gas but on checking the system with the UV light they found the whole of the Intercooler was glowing bright green. The system was leaking as the Intercooler had become porous.
Fortunately I have a spare 2.5td from which I used the intercooler and it's now working fine.
Presumably you mean condensor - the intercooler is to cool the air intake ;)

er..dunno. The air-con chappy said the "Intercooler"  was porous.

I put the glasses on and he directed the uv light at the radiator type thing immediately in front of the main radiator it was glowing bright green.

So what does the "Intercooler" look like ?

Well that inspires confidence in his abilities. Not.

Condensor sits in front of rad, looks like a rad. Rad needs to come out to change it.

Intercoolers, generally only fitted to turbo cars, are used to recool air heated by turbo for increased performance, and has nothing to do with A/C.

« Reply #19 on: 10 October 2007, 14:20:52 »

Tyres fitted, new steering arm, tracking done, 2 new tail gate struts (18.50+ Vat from andrew paige)

Now the engine, there is a circular vacuum thing on the right front of the engine , the bottom pipe is missing completely and its blowing oil out.

Anyone know were does the pipe go, whats it called, whats it do and should it be venting oil  :question

Dont understand what you mean.  Is this the EGR (between black 'turbo diesel' and silver air intake feeding the 6 cylinders)?  A picture paints a thousand words sometimes ;)
