Sluggish Elite...
« on: 23 October 2007, 16:54:48 »

Recently noticed a significant drop in power. I find it a struggle to really get going sometimes even in sport mode. However, i read on here that someones backbox exploded and shed a load of wadding stuff. Prior to this the guy said his power was down and after fitting a repalcement it went like a rocket. My backbox, for the last few weeks, has been regurgitating trails of this fibrous material on the odd occasion. Does this stuff cause a blockage in the backbox when it breaks down or deteriates? A blockage would affect this I know, but having owned the car for 6 months now and changed the oil and filter twice in this period, I feel I might have neglected other things. Should I spend the weekend changing the plugs, cleaning out breathers and EGR ect? When I first got this car it took off and went like a cheetah, now it just kinda minces up the road like it cant be bothered. Any help appreciated....ta.. :y

Yes mate you will find that the back box is not allowing the gasses out and is strangling the life out of your engine. remove the box and replace with gen vx box.  :y

I would strongly reccomend that you clean the breathers first  and also remove the throttle body and clean the bores as well with carb cleaner. Failure to clean the breathers will cause cam cover gasket failure and oil in the plug holed and fried leads. :(
