Paper Clip Code 73 - Any Help???
« on: 25 October 2007, 09:54:24 »

Hi again All,

I have noticed over the last 2 days the EML has been coming on, done the test got code 73 which i believe is the MAF.  :(

Now, its not on all the time, it comes on when i shove my foot down to overtake, then stays on, but if i put her into 'N' switch off the engine and restart it goes off again. and stays off till the next time i put my foot down.  :-?

Also, the car has started to be a wee bit lumpy on running and idle, is this because of the MAF???

Also, when going into kickdown it seems to hesitate, drops down back up the down and off it goes, related too????

You boys n gals on here know youre stuff, any more info needed then do ask!!!  :y

I will mention that there is a bit of a blow on the exhaust manifold (pass Side) gasket, will be getting this done as soon as it is affordable, could this be related to the problem, i thought not as its incoming air that the maf sensors, and the manifold is outgoing.

Thanks All, Mark.  :y

It's definitely Air Flow Sensor low voltage according to this;

I wouldn't have thought the exhaust blowing would have anything to do with it though....

Check all the intake pipes for leaks or splits, check for air leaks at the idle valve etc. The code simply means that the air mass reported by the meter is different to what it expected, it doesnt necessarily mean the meter is faulty.

Will also add: that the rear multiram does not seem to work, have tried blipping the throttle, hard soft, long short, the front one seems ok, that one comes in at higher revs.

Have checked the connections with the MTDM diagram and all looks ok. (I Think).

Thanks, Mark.  :y
