Newby here (so sorry if this is a stupid question/post!) - I live in Brackley and saw it mentioned earlier - Im using a local garage for all the work on my Omega 3.0 right now, they seem pretty knowledgeable but it sounds like maybe there is someone local who may be even better ? Any clues to who they are etc appreciated ! What does the firmware upgrade do exactly ?

Cheers

Dodsy

Thanks for the welcome - I'm on my second Omega now just moved from a 2.5CDX to a 3.0Elite facelift but now discovered there is no haynes manual for the facelift. And while the two are similar there are plenty of differences too...so expect lots more stupid questions  ::)

That would be 'The Boy'
not a garage, but a very helpful bloke with a tech2 ;)

Upgrade makes gear changes smoother, and the car feel more responsive
Highly recommended  :y

He will also advise of any other updates that can be performed, Climate is another worthwhile one  :y

Just to clarify, all full Facelift and all minifacelift (ie, solid head restraints, audio steering wheel controls, clear headlights) 4 speed autos can have the autobox firmware updated.

If you are still not sure if your PREFACELIFT is a minifacelift or not, check the last LETTER of your VIN. If its a W, X, or Y, it is updatable.  If its R, S, T, or V, it is NOT updatable.

Very true!

My parts desk lookers, which also does commercial, said we dont know how, but ti will be 70+vat if we did!

Ohh how I laughed!

Have a word on the Q T with Phil (Dr O of the Yahoo Group) at Lookers in Ellesmere Port. There's nothing about Omegas he doesn't know & has his own proper Tech II. He did mine years ago, I'm sure you could both come to an arrangement!
How long ago, as its the last updat on yours that makes all the difference?

good question, and one only tech2 can answer!

your VIN says you can CAN be upgraded.

It may already be the latest

Unless already done, it won't be the latest ;)

Yes, one other.  Can't remember if that was a 2.2 or 2.6 now though...
