It's that time again, gonna do oil/filter, coolant drain (& replace before any clever dickie suggests it)!!!
    Any tips regarding oil/coolant brands, coolant/water ratios, any other jobs? Been using magnatex, so far so good, no smoke even when giving it some!!
    It's a good healthy Mig & i'd like to keep it that way.

I've just bought some 10/40w semi synthetic proper GM stuff to change the oil on the TD, apparently that's the best for em.
Just waiting for the weather to get better to do the job, also treating it to an air filter change.

I know what you mean. Cold, wet, damp, blowing a gale. Just the right time for working on the car.

Can't beat the GM Semi synth for value and no point buying anything exotic if it's getting changed regularly.

GM red coolant all the way. 50% mix (flush system out with a hose then chuck in 5 litres of coolant, top up with water)

All filters / fluids original Vx:

GM 10W-40 semi (will not mayo the filler neck)

Vx Red Antifreeze - mix 50:50 with water. Best method if repeated flushing with water, then last drain, and fill-up with 5L antifreeze. The cooling system holds 10L and 5L get drained, so after repeated flushing and a final drain you have exactly 5L of pure water left in the system...

All filters from VX, i.e. oil (paper element or canister, dpeneding on year), fuel, air, and pollen (charcoal or standard, depending on year)

Probably a good time of year to check the breathers are clear while you're under the bonnet. Lots of cold starts and slow warmups on the way.

Manual gearbox oil is GM special oil IIRC.

The diff just takes normal 75w90 hypoid gear oil.
