clifford direct bud well kept secret with all there systems !! new looms are about £100 fitted if you get all the boxes and sensors !!

I guess you are after the remote start function because a clifford alarm offers you very little over and above that of the factory one......which is already Thatcham 1

Can you fit a remote start alarm without compromising the built-in immobiliser?

Guess you've got to just tape the transponder up under the steering column and use the inferior "immobiliser" in the alarm?

I know what I'd do. Secure car or remote start?  :-/

I didn't know the standard was thatcham 1, just found this:

"The Concept 650's built-in tandem immobiliser circuit is self-arming soon after you park so that your vehicle always remains protected, and these main electronics also reside in an armoured-steel enclosure as an added security measure"

Also it has two immobiliser circuits, one for the starter and one for the ignition system - it the omega's standard system better than this.

The remote start works with, the car is still alarmed etc and the key has to be inserted before the ignition lights, steering lock etc come off so presumbly its still quite secure. I liked the feature as you set it up so the heated windows come on as well, good for cold mornings, so no-onew thinks its a good idea to install, also has blackjack anti - carjacking.

The system on the Omega is superior to this (certainly on later models) as it's built into the ECU itself. If it doesn't see a valid code from the immobiliser indicating the transponder is present it won't allow the engine to run.

It'll always be possible for a determined thief to bypass a system that relies on cutting circuits and they're only as good as the quality of the install. The factory system isn't really possible to bypass - short of reverse engineering the code in the ECU or using a (real) Tech2 with the vehicle's car pass information.

Well in that case I'l be sticking to the omega's security system then, thanks fo the info   though it beats me why someone in the past have spent £400 plus in the past to install an inferior alarm. though its was amusing to start the car as people walked past wand watch thier faces.
