emissions light
« on: 14 January 2008, 18:07:14 »

Is there an exhaustive list (no pun intended) of things that would cause the emissions light to come on?
When it happens, limp home mode is active, i.e revs wont go above 4500ish but switching to lpg and back clears the light but not the limp home mode, only a restart clears that. It doesn't happen THAT often but i don't want it to get worse so if there's something else i need to add to my list for when i do the cam cover gasket it would be handy to know in advance.
Once again, thanks to everyone who contributes to this forum, its what it makes it the best one on the web... :)

Ive not known my 2.2 to go into limp mode cause of emissions light coming on.......sure its not the EML coming on? (piccy of car with spanner sticking thro the roof)

The 2.2's are pretty common for sticking on the EML and going into limp mode....esp when started from hot.

Get the codes read.......if it mentions P0340......change the cam sensor  :y

why is light coming on?

If it is the emissions light TB......as its been converted to LPG, i wouldnt be worried about it......tho going into linp mode too....does concern me .....but i never known my 2.2 to do that.....the emissions light on mine comes on that often....that the bulb has blown now!

As i say ive never known mine to go into limp mode coz of the emissions light coming on.......hence why i asked if its not the EML?

Its deffo the emissions light :o, i haven't had the codes read yet as i've been too busy and i'm not paying Vx prices.
If i dont restart, it wont rev over 4500 so i'm guessing its in limp mode.
Cam sensor is one of the things on my list along with cam cover gasket set, exhaust manifold and studs.
doesn't happen every time i start either....
Just bought some wynns rad flush to clean the sludge out of the system, thats job no.1 :y
