Re-curring fault.
« on: 15 January 2008, 15:17:10 »

A little help for a friend would be much appreciated please, He drives a 2001 Y plate 2.6 Elite auto, 270k, yes that was 270,000 miles. Fault code P0130, lamda sensor, bank 1 position 1, little or no activity, has come up again, this is the 3rd time. The sensor was replaced with a genuine VX part, car has been ok for months and has now brought the EML on again, same code. Code was cleared and again car ok for a while. Code now on again, sensor replaced with a known good 2nd hand one. This seems to happen if he fills up at the local Esso station, can the type of fuel affect things like this? Any other ideas, all wiring has been checked and double checked, continuity tested as far as possible, no signs of contamination on the old sensors. Help.

 Hi

Just to check how is the car runing has the MPG gone down and also is he leveing it until when the tank is almost dry. I have has the same pob with the emmison light and have also replaced the 02 sensor. I have found that it has helped to use V-power and also a product called Cataclean with is said to help clean the cat and the 02,s

Not sure if it will work but has helped me and kept the light of for the pass few weeks when it is not off for more that a few days week at the most. Also MPG is better.

Also there are 4 02,s sensors on the 2.6 and 3.2 i think and it is the ones pre cat that play up at times as they control the mixture. With the 270k on the clock they may be swiching a bit slow.
