BTW you would be very unlucky if the cambelt went on the way to the garage, but DON'T flog it, even though this can be no guarantee that it won't. And do read the maintenance posts on cambelt replacement. It will help you to know if the garage is competent from the things they tell you.

I know the garage personally and he owns an Omega himself(he's an ex vaux mechanic), once I mentioned the cambelt he said he would organise a locking tool ready for next week, so he knows his stuff (as he also mentioned the full kit and kaboodle needs replacing, not just the belt itself)

Going to get the full lot changed, better safe than sorry since I haven't got a scooby on the cambelts history.

Now, if the outside belt is the aux, then it's the top left pulley I can see that is screeching so all should be well going to the garage, thanks all.
