Well finally got to the bottom of the problem....it was the tyres. Tyre company been very helpful, fitted 4 new Marshall tyres and sent the P7s back. Car now drives better than it has ever done, no wandering, no tramlining and a much smoother and quieter ride, can't believe how much quieter the car is. I always thought Marshall tyres were a cheapo budget boot but my tyre shop swears by them and I'm chuffed to bits.....sorted

I'm beginning to think there's a lot of boloney talked by tyre people about the merits of different tyres, (with the exception of the very cheapest, perhaps).
My 2.0l estate is shod with 4 Maxxis tyres, and I've just fitted a pair of Nexens to the front of my 2.6l. I am slightly deaf, but my hearing aids detect no unusual noise from any of them, and I certainly don't suffer from tramlining or wandering. Durability I don't yet know about, but at the prices I paid I can afford to replace them over shorter periods.
I wonder if certain types of tyre or tread pattern simply expose steering and suspension defects more than others.

experience similiar..Soft or medium tires hide the problems upto a degree..

But hard surfaced ones make you feel whats happening down the car..

I sell 4 new good year hydragrip  nearly for nothing just for that..

I thought the same but then i was told they were a great tyre for a 4 x 4 so the Rangey had a set fitted, have been a great tyre
