Replacing the accessory drive bely Omega 2.5 V60..
« on: 23 February 2008, 10:53:32 »

Dear all,

Please offer details on replacing the drive belt on the 1999 2.5L V6 omega. There are some brackets in the way and what looks like a coolant hose obstructing the belt from being removed/installed.

Thanks very much for your support,

Perfferle.

Firstly make a sketch of the routing of the belt around the pulleys.

You will need to release a couple of brackets in order to feed the belt through but I dont think you need to remove anything as such.   I can't recall if you need to disconnect a hose but if so its the secondary air system, not coolant.

Then its a 15mm socket on the tensioner pulley nut to release the tension.   When refitting its easier to feed it on to the water pump pulley last of all (big one in the middle with no lip).

Thank you SOO much for the instruction - Complete success!

I must add that for the sake of the plastic idler wheel you HAVE to purchase the complete tensioner assembly just seems to be a ripoff!

Keep well and kind regards,

P

You dont, the plastic idler is available seperately for about 20 quid.
